About Us

I’m Terri Thomas, co-founder and designer of Mahjong Swag. After retiring from the fast-paced tech world, I was ready to return to my happy place—designing, creating, and making special things for family and friends.

Mahjong entered my life thanks to a dear friend I’ve known for more than half my life, and I was quickly hooked. Not just on the game, but on everything that happens around the table—the laughter, conversation, friendships, and genuine connection.

The idea for Mahjong Swag was born during a Mahjong retreat in Palm Springs, when my longtime friend and co-founder, Kim Harrison, and I were floating in the pool and started dreaming about combining our love of the game with our love of creating. We wanted to make original art, gifts, jewelry, greeting cards, and other fun finds as unique as the wonderful community of people who play the game.

Today, I design from my home studio in Austin, Texas, which I share with my rescue pup, Piper, and my adorable 90-year-old mother. My goal is simple: create unique, reasonably priced pieces that celebrate the friendship, fun, and joy that happen every time we gather around the Mahjong table.

Because it’s never been just about the tiles. It’s about the people around the table.
